On June 23, 2022, I posted a CheatSheet on how turn off the Search Highlights in Windows 10.  At the time of that posting, Windows 11 users were spared from the insipidity of what some people from Microsoft think is compelling news.  That reprieve was, however, only temporary.  Windows 11 users now must also endure such lameness.  Unless, of course, users annoyed by this drivel turn said drivel off.

The first tell-tale sign that Search Highlights has been enabled is the cartoon of the day in the lower right of the Search Bar.

Then when you click into the Search Box, the Microsoft Lame News of the Day is displayed.

Fortunately, Microsoft makes it relatively easy to turn all this off.

Click the 3 Dot Control to open the Search Menu.

Click Search Settings from the Drop Down Menu.

The Search Permissions Menu opens.

To turn all search content off, simply move all the sliders to off by moving them to the left.  The example here has all Search Content off.

You can experiment here with some content on and some off.  If I want to read the news, I will go get the news.  I don't need all that pushed at me.

After you make your selection, when you click open the Search Bar, you will see the delightfully boring set of shortcuts that are far more useful than the Insipid Lame News of the Day.

I read the news today,
Oh Boy.
