Open Outlook Links In Your Default Browser Like Chrome
And Not Edge

If you gotten a new PC recently, or have recently performed a reset to your PC, I am sure you have noticed there are a vast number of seemingly incidental personalized settings that needs to be made.  In Windows, the number of personalized settings and the number of options for any setting is small number of variable to address.  If Microsoft 365, what we like to still call Office, there are any number of highly personalized settings that apply to one or more applications.  Some are set globally once, and done.  The others, more personal settings must be made within the settings of the application at hand.

Outlook and Word are the two Office Applications that Consumers want to be exactly the way they want.  I have tried to cover those less known settings in The Cheatsheets.  After experiencing a very bad Windows Insider Preview Experience — Beta — while simultaneously experiencing Month End End of Bandwidth — I had to perform three Windows Resets in 4 days, including two complete delete drive partitions.  Something new emerged from Microsoft's constant push to make Consumers surrender to the Borg, and accept Edge as their Web Browser.  Hyperlinks contained within an Outlook email open with Edge no matter how the application default is set.  Well, not now.

To make whatever web browser brand os your default browser, the browser with which email hyperlinks will open, we have to first go to the Options Menu.  I think all my clients, and me, prefer Google Chrome as our default web browser.

From within Outlook:
1.  Click File.
2.  Scroll all the way down the menu on the far left
3.  Click Options
4.  From the Options menu, Click Advanced.

From the Advanced menu, locate File and browser preferences, as illustrated below.  Make sure the box is checked.
Click the Control that shows "Microsoft Edge."  The other choice is "Default Browser."
Click Default Browser.  Click OK.

I don't begrudge Microsoft pushing products on us Consumers.  Every other vendor does likewise.
It's like I always advise:

Best course for a Consumer is Learn To Use the Tools to be free from the Tyranny of the IT Leviathans.

Outlook Links Open In Edge by Default Outlook Links Now Open In Chrome by Default
