Verify Your Windows Defender Version Number

Malware can fool you into believing you are up to date, but in fact maybe you are not.  Best to verify this critical piece of information and know you are up to date.  Given that there is the possibility of Windows Defender might be compromised, we really want to make sure we are up to date and continually updating.

To find your Windows Defender version number, you can access Windows Defender most commonly used functions from the taskbar in the notification area where the clock is in the lower right corner of the desktop screen. 

1. Left Click the up pointing caret icon.
2. Right Click on the Windows Defender icon.

Next, left click on "Check for protection updates."

The Protection updates screen will display. Under Security intelligence you can see your current version number.
As of July 31, 2022, the current version number is 1.137.1186.0.  If your version is a lesser number, then click the Check for updates button. 
REMEMBER: 1.371.999.9 is still a lower number than 1.137.1186.0.  Observe the number placement.
