Safely Copy a Picture from the Web: Introduction to MS Paint.

As has been discussed in an earlier post, when taking content from the web, we want to have some assurance that we only get the image or text, and not any "extra coding."  Enter MS Paint.  Like Notepad, Paint has been included in every version of Windows ever released.  To insure that you have the newest release of MS Paint, you can get the app from the Microsoft Store.

Paint has many image editing features, but is not as feature rich as the new Photos app.  But if you are an avid picture taker, then you probably already have a favorite imaging app.  Our purpose here is to show how Paint can be a great place to paste a copied image from the web.

First, locate the image on the web that you want to copy. In our example, our image is the famous painting of St. Sebastian that I used for album art on the new hit song, Hey There, Brother.  [ed  A shameless bit of self-promotion there.]  Then RIGHT Click, and click Copy Image.

Next, open Paint from the Apps List.

Click the BIG PASTE BUTTON to paste your saved image into the Paint app.

Then, you use Paint to Save the File As most any image file you wish.

Now you have a new file just waiting for your artistic flair to bring the picture to life .
