Get Windows Update Now | Windows Notifications Are Exploding | Optional Updates |
One of the useful features added to Windows 11 is the option to have the most recent updates be pushed to you as soon Microsoft releases an update. 1. Click the Start button → Click the Setting Gear icon 2. Click Windows Update → Get the latest updates as soon as they're available is new. Move the slider to the right.
Now when you manually check for updates, there more frequently will be an update ready to install.

Windows Notifications Are Exploding Although I just went over this a week or so ago, the latest Windows update really has goosed up Notifications. Notifications are the ads and other annoyances that popup in the lower right hand of your screen where the clock can be found. I can't demonstrate. I don't want to to turn Notifications back on. But here is a quick review to turn them off. 1. Click the Start button → Click the Setting Gear icon Click Windows Update → Click System 2. From Start → Click Notifications 3. Move the slider for Notifications to the left to turn off All Notifications 4. Move the slider for Do Not Disturb to the right to keep Notifications off.
If you have never updated your system drivers because your PC manufacturer does not offer an easy path to do so, or you have simply never bothered to check, then you should check Optional Updates. Also, under Optional Updates is an update for the DotNet Framework 3.5: 2023-05 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5026515). Microsoft has deprecated this application, meaning not really critical for ALL users, but it is still current. This is an application that powers many "legacy" applications. Many of my clients use the now discontinued Microsoft PowerToy, SyncToy. This update is need for that application. It is very possible if you have and use Windows software that's been around for, then you will probably want this update. Nevertheless, installing Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 will not cause any problems, at least that is my experience. Click the Start button → Click the Setting Gear icon Click Windows Update → Click System When you open Windows Update, Click → Advanced Options.
From Windows Update → Advanced Options
If you are not sure which items you should install, then install everything you see. As you can see, that is what I have done, but I install most device driver updates from the Intel Website.
