Amaze and Astound Your Friends and Family
With These Easy Peasy Tips & Tricks to Try

I read about new trends and styles in webpage and website design.
One of these new trends is single page websites.  So in keeping up with all the trends, here are what could be three separate Cheatsheet webpages all on one webpage.

Topic 1:  Adobe Acrobat and Reader Update
  Topic 2:  Supercharge Windows Explorer
Topic 3:  Improve the Image Quality of All Your Pics with a Couple of Clicks

1 Changes to Adobe Reader Update Procedures

There were a formidable number of Updates released along with the usual Patch Tuesday rituals the second week of September.  Among those non-Microsoft apps to update is Adobe Acrobat and/or Reader.

What follows is a revision of the post of 02/06/2022 that offered some tips for a manual update of Adobe Acrobat and Reader.

Adobe has merged the all if its menu options into one drop down menu, ala Office and Chrome.

1.  In the top left corner is a control with 4 parallel lines.  Click the line control to open the drop down menu.
2.  Scroll Down to Help. Mouse Over Help.
3.  Another drop down menu opens.
4.  Scroll Down to Check for Updates.  Click Check for Updates.

When the update process begins, close Adobe Acrobat or Reader.  The update process will finish itself.

2.  Supercharge Windows File Explorer

There is a "bug" sorta in Windows Explorer File Manager that slows both the speed file access and dramatically decreases the speed of searching for a file.  Fortunately, there is an easy peasy fix for the bug.
For this quick fix to work, you must have Task Manager open.  You can review Task Manager here

The secret is to OPEN WINDOWS EXPLORER.
It's the Yellow File Folder Icon on the Taskbar.

Once Windows Explorer is open, locate the "F11" Key on the Keyboard Top Row.
You may need to push a "Fn key" to access F11 full screen.
Place File Explorer in Full Screen.
When in Full Screen Mode there will be no Toolbar or Tabs shown
.
Then push F11 to exit Full Screen.  Close File Explorer and Task Manager.

Open File Explorer back up.  Try to search for a file.
The improvement in speed is immediately noticeable, at least to me.  And I'm a cynic.

3Improve the Image Quality of All Your Pics with a Couple of Clicks.

On May 24, 2023, I posted an article about how I use Microsoft Photos to increase the image quality of resized images using the Resize Image function in Microsoft Photos. The Resize Image function of MS Photos can be used to enhance the quality of any image file, whether you resize or not.

Below are two copies of the same image.  First is the image as it was ultimately saved as a JPG file using the Snipping Tool.  Below that is the same image at the same size, just increased image quality using MS Photos.

1. Original File is shown below.  Size on disc of the not yet enhanced image is 303kb.

2. Enhance JPG file is below. Size on disc is 669kb.  2X Original Size before Enchantment.
Notice the greater depth of color.  The entire image is sharper.

Simple Technique Step 1 Below: .
Open your image in MS Photos.
Usually Photos is the Default Image Handler.

The Default Setting for Image Quality is 80%

Simple Technique Step 2.
Move the Quality Slider all the way to the right 100%.

Notice the size of the image in KB is more than double.
There will be more pixel information in the new file.

Save your enhanced file with the same name with some separate defining clue.
I suggest original filename with "-HR" (Hi-Res) added to filename.
That way you will know which one is the Hi-Res version.

Enhancing your pics after processing is one more step.
You can decide if it's worth the trouble.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
